Overview
Shoreline protection, ecological enhancement, and access improvements were completed in 2019 for 500 feet of shoreline at a popular NYSDEC property in the town of Stuyvesant, NY. The project involved stabilizing eroded banks, planting native vegetation and providing a fishing platform for park users of all physical abilities to fish and view the river.
Lessons Learned
- Permits may be required at multiple municipal levels. For this project, permits were required by the NYSDEC and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
- It is essential to design sites with attention to sea level rise scenarios.
