The Hudson River Reserve’s field-based education programs are rooted in science and designed for students, teachers, families, and life-long learners. We help you get your feet wet and boots muddy to discover the Hudson River estuary for yourself.

The Reserve’s education programs are delivered in partnership with the Hudson River Estuary Program. For more information on all of our programs, please visit the DEC website, or check out the DEC’s calendar of events.

For Teachers

Engage your young learners with the Hudson River estuary—with both in-person and virtual programs, resources, and training, we can help.

For Students

Explore the river through videos and activities, or join one of our in-person programs using real scientific equipment to collect data on water, habitats, birds, and fish.

Canoe Programs

Discover the Hudson through the eyes of a naturalist with free guided canoe trips which take you into the estuary to learn about tidal marshes and discover birds, plants, and wildlife firsthand.

Eel Project

Get involved with real science on the river! Put on your waders and hop in the water with us to collect critical data on migratory American eels to help understand their populations.
