New Motus Antenna Will Track Migratory Birds Flying Over Putnam County

The Constitution Marsh Audubon Center and Sanctuary’s “Motus” wildlife tracking antenna, funded by the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve, receives pings from tracking devices on birds, helping scientists better understand their movements.

HRNERR consists of four tidal wetland sites along the Hudson River Estuary: Stockport Flats in Columbia County, Tivoli Bays in Dutchess County, and Piermont Marsh and Iona Island in Rockland County. Visitors can hike, observe wildlife, and also explore these sites through the NYS DEC’s free educational canoe trips.
