Day in the Life of the Mohawk River Watershed
SAVE THE DATE: October 6, 2026
Day in the Life of the Mohawk River Watershed is a community education science event where students collect data on the Mohawk Watershed. The annual event is designed to bring school groups and education partners to the Mohawk River Watershed, where they can learn directly from the river. Using kick nets, seine nets, minnow pots, water-testing gear and simple tools, students examine the water quality, collect and identify macroinvertebrates and fish species, and even take a look at the surrounding river/stream site. The event is hosted each fall, coordinated by Mohawk River Basin Program and the Hudson River Estuary Management Program of New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and operated in partnership with the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve. This one day event is modeled off the Day in the Life of the Hudson and Harbor in partnership with the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.
